About Abbas Merchant

I'm Abbas, a second-year Software Engineering student at the University of Waterloo.

I was working on production software before I started university: first testing checkout and payment flows for an e-commerce company, then generating and validating training data for AI products at Invision Custom Solutions, where I later came back as a developer. That order matters to me. I learned how software fails before I learned how to build it, and it shows in how I test.

Most of what I've built started as something I was doing by hand and got tired of. Checking five AI tabs became Multi Agent Manager. Lyrics I couldn't read became a Chrome extension. At CMI, dispatchers guessing from spreadsheets became a dashboard that watches the scales for them. Different domains, same instinct: notice the friction, then build the thing that removes it.

I'm looking for a Winter 2027 co-op on a team that ships. I care about product, I like owning things end to end, and I'm happiest when real people are using what I made.
